Fry’s Island is also known as De Montfort Island following a famous duel in 1163. Fry's Island is a natural island, the only access to it being by boat. 

 

We are fortunate enough be able to offer secure moorings on Fry's Island for boat club members. We share the private island which sits just above Caversham lock, with the Bohemian Bowls club, a friendly bunch who can be found on the Island most weekends throughout summer. The island is also home to Caversham boat yard.
